About the Chef:

Karrian has been involved with food for the last 20 years, actively working as a Chef for the last 7 years, chef at NW Yoga Feast, in Sandpoint Idaho for the previous 5 years, providing nourishment, beauty and fuel for the teachers and participants.   She has also provided the Thanksgiving Feast at SASG, Seattle Area Support Groups in Capitol Hill area of Seattle for many years.  Her culinary skills have been honed through restaurants, retreats, celebrations, life and individuals.  Working as a Chef for Sutra Restaurant, Poppy Restaurant, Bastyr Naturopathic Medicine Revival, NW Yoga Feast, University of Washington Greek Sysytem, and currently as a Chef Trainer/Instructor at FareStart in Seattle.  Farestart is a non-profit organization that uses food as an education tool to help homeless, people in Recovery, and disadvantaged people learn skills to empower themselves into sustainability through life skills and employment.

"Over time, I have realized that Food is also about relationships, especially the relationship between ourselves and the earth.  I believe that to sustain our path and our life dreams, we must provide the best fuel we can.  I believe in Conscious Consumption, being in the right relationship with mind, practice, and alignment for every meal you prepare or consume. Creating the connection between our hearts, minds and our food.  Healthy, fun, magical food is the fuel to keep your daily practice attuned and you're mind open.  Food is medicine, sacred and really should be a beautiful experience.   I look forward to meeting each and every one of you through conversation, sharing food, laughter, play, dance, and connection.  Blessings to you!"

Allergies and Food Preferences

We often have a lot of questions about the menu at LakeShore Retreat. We wanted to take this opportunity to answer some of those concerns. LakeShore is made up of an all-volunteer staff, this includes the folks that work in the kitchen. We cook and prepare all our own food for over 100 people. You will find the menu for the retreat posted on our webpage and Facebook, so you will know what to expect before you register.

We provide 5 meals for you during the retreat. We understand that people have allergies and restrictions to certain food items. We do honor people with food allergies to the best of our ability; please note that we do not have a separate prep area available to prevent cross-contamination. We also have vegetarian and vegan options available for each meal. If there are certain types of meat you prefer to not eat, you may choose the vegetarian selection for that meal. We also avoid peanuts and seafood in our prepared meals.

While we try to be flexible, we cannot meet everyone’s preferences. If you are dieting or on certain food restrictions, we ask that you consult the menu and see if it meets your needs.

We would love nothing more than to meet every special request we get, but that is not something we are able to do. The cost for one to participate in LakeShore Retreat is $90.00 for the entire weekend; this includes all meals, workshops, and lodging. Several people throughout the years have chosen to bring their own food so they can honor their food choices – please feel free to do so; it will not hurt our feelings.

We want you to be happy and well fed, but we also understand we cannot be everything to everyone where food is concerned. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info@lakeshoreretreat.org and we will do what we can to assist you.
